Building equitable solutions to support marginalized individuals.
My name is Katherine Adams and I am a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Management Science and Statistics at the University of Texas at San Antonio working under the supervision of Prof. Arkajyoti Roy. Previously, I obtained my PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison advised by Profs. Justin Boutilier and Yonatan Mintz.
I am originally from Brazil, a country known for its diversity and culture, but also for its stark inequalities. This upbringing would later lead me to dedicate myself to helping reduce health disparities and improve healthcare systems globally. Being a Math lover from a young age, I found ISyE and operations research to be the best path to achieve this goal.
Personal interests
During my free time, I enjoy hiking, playing the piano, cooking, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with my cats, Tigre and Nala. As an ethical vegan, I also like to study the health and environmental effects of a plant-based diet. And yes, that tiny person under Delicate Arch (in Utah) is me!
